Terms of Service

Last updated: December 5, 2025
  1. Welcome to Keyboard

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Keyboard, the open-source software and website operated by Dev-Docs Inc. ("we," "us," or "our").

By using Keyboard or visiting keyboard.dev, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use our software or site.

  1. What Keyboard Does

Keyboard is an open-source, local-first tool that acts as a universal MCP (Model Context Protocol) server. It helps you securely connect your apps and AI clients (like ChatGPT, Claude, GitHub, and Notion).

Keyboard is designed with security and privacy at its core, following a zero-trust architecture. We store the minimum credentials necessary for the service to function (such as your GitHub Personal Access Token, scoped to a public repository). We may collect anonymized usage metrics to improve the service, which you can opt out of at any time. We never store your third-party application data that flows through Keyboard.

Enterprise customers have the option to run Keyboard on their own infrastructure for complete data control.

Active Development: Keyboard is under active development. We are constantly improving and may modify features with reasonable notice.

  1. Open-Source License

The Keyboard source code is released under the Apache 2.0 license. Your use of the source code is subject to that license, which governs rights to copy, modify, and distribute the code.

The hosted Keyboard service at keyboard.dev, including authentication and account features, constitutes a commercial relationship between you and Dev-Docs Inc. governed by these Terms.

  1. Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Ensuring your environment and credentials are secure

  • Complying with the terms of any third-party services you connect (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, GitHub)

  • Using Keyboard in compliance with all applicable laws

You agree not to use Keyboard to violate the rights of others, distribute malicious code, or access systems without authorization.

  1. Third-Party Integrations

Keyboard may enable you to connect third-party APIs or tools using your own keys or credentials.

When you connect third-party services:

  • You grant permissions directly to them (not to us)

  • You are responsible for complying with their terms of service and privacy policies

  • We do not store, proxy, or intercept your credentials or data, unless necessary for the service to function, in which case we store only the minimum credentials needed

We are not responsible for the actions of third-party services you connect.

  1. Account Requirements

To use the hosted Keyboard service at keyboard.dev, you must create an account with a valid email address. Authentication is handled securely through WorkOS.

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials

  • All activity that occurs under your account

  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

  1. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting privacy@keyboard.dev.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Keyboard at any time, for any reason, including (but not limited to):

  • Violation of these Terms

  • Fraudulent, abusive, or illegal activity

  • Requests from law enforcement

Upon termination, your right to use Keyboard ends immediately.

  1. Payment

We use Stripe to process payments. By subscribing, you agree to pay the fees for your plan. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.

For refund requests, please contact privacy@keyboard.dev and we'll work with you directly.

We may change pricing with reasonable notice to existing subscribers.

Data upon cancellation: Upon subscription cancellation or account termination, your account and billing records will be kept for up to 7 years for tax and audit purposes. Your saved scripts and configurations will be deleted within 30 days of termination.

  1. Important Disclaimers

Keyboard is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no warranties about its functionality, reliability, or fitness for any particular purpose. You use Keyboard at your own risk.

While we implement industry-standard security measures, we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service and are not responsible for:

  • Data loss from circumstances beyond our control

  • Issues with third-party integrations you configure

  • Security or configuration decisions in your environment

  1. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dev-Docs Inc. and its contributors won't be liable for any damages arising from your use of Keyboard—including data loss, lost profits, or account access issues.

If your local laws don't allow this limitation, our total liability is capped at $100 USD, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct by Dev-Docs Inc.

  1. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Dev-Docs Inc. harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from: (a) your violation of these Terms, (b) your violation of any third-party rights (including third-party API terms), or (c) your misuse of Keyboard or connected services.

  1. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. The latest version will always be at keyboard.dev/terms. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email at the address associated with your account. By continuing to use Keyboard after updates, you agree to the revised Terms.
